Funniest moments of 2020/21 Premier League season, including Eric Dier’s toilet trouble, Roy Keane and Micah Richards’ bromance, while West Ham hero loves the bus

The 2020/21 Premier League season draws to a close on Sunday and has been an unusual campaign for many reasons.

Games have largely been played behind closed doors, barring a few weeks in December and the final two rounds of fixtures.

Man City were crowned the Premier League champions this season, and fans celebrated outside the Etihad

We’ve had to make do with watching on from home, listening to the fake crowd noise and there’s been few VAR controversies along the way.

Man City were crowned Premier League champions while Fulham, Sheffield United and West Brom will be returning to the Championship after all failed to muster much fight to stay up.

It’s just the top four to be decided on the last day with two of Chelsea, Leicester and Liverpool set to be playing Champions League football next season.

And Europa League football is up for grabs too with the Hammers, Tottenham, and Everton in contention.

Many of us will be glad to see the back of this season with the Euro 2020 to look forward to this summer and then, hopefully, a return to normality in August for the new campaign with full stadiums.

It’s not all been doom and gloom with no fans, though.

There have been some truly hilarious moments to bring some us laughs and fun in a tough time.

We certainly don’t intend on forgetting them any time soon and here at talkSPORT.com we’ve taken a look at a few of our favourites.

Eric Dier’s toilet trouble

When you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go.

Back in September when Tottenham were playing Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, the defender raced off the pitch while the game was going on to hit the loo.

Jose Mourinho was left stunned on the sidelines when, with just 15 minutes left and Spurs 1-0 down, Dier nipped off.

The boss’ perplexed expression soon turned to anger as he marched down the tunnel after him, with Chelsea almost scoring in his absence.

Dier soon emerged, though, and went on to score in the shoot-out after Erik Lamela’s late equaliser. He was even named Man of the Match, but later tweeted a picture of the award on a toilet, with the caption: ‘The real M.O.M’.

Geography lessons with O’Hara and Agbonlahor

Here at talkSPORT we have some brilliant former players on air giving expert analysis and punditry on all the goings on in the football world.

But let’s face it, geography isn’t exactly one of their strongest subjects.

Jamie O’Hara admitted he thought Sri Lanka was in Europe… Oh Jamie.

And Gabby Agbonlahor was on talkSPORT Breakfast alongside Alan Brazil and Mr O’Hara when he dropped a clanger.

On our Simply The Best quiz, he was asked what is the tallest mountain in Europe and it is situated in the French Alps.

And the former Aston Villa man’s answer was… Mount Everest. Cue the hysterics from everyone in the studio.

Micah Richards showing Roy Keane hilarious FIFA video

Richards and Keane’s blossoming bromance over the last year has been entirely unexpected, but utterly brilliant.

The former Man City defender regularly posts videos from behind the scenes of Sky Sports having a joke with the former United hardman. Some got a wry smile, some didn’t.

One thing everyone wanted Richards to show Keane was a hilarious video of a virtual Keane on FIFA doing a TikTok dance that was doing the rounds on social media.

And Micah Richards could not help but post Keane’s less than impressed reaction to the video.

The former Man City defender gave us an indication of his Sky Sports colleague’s response by admitting he could not play fans the real audio.

He tweeted: “A lot of fans asked me to show Roy a funny video from TikTok and I wasn’t going to let you all down… I just can’t play you the real audio.”

Sean Dyche’s brilliant press conferences

Manager press conferences can be a tad dull and boring on occasionS, and often we don’t glean much information.

But the Burnley boss likes to have a bit of fun with the assembled media every week, and certainly brightened up our days.

One particular memorable moment was when he discussed lookalikes, which started after a reporter asked him ‘has anyone ever told you you look like Mick Hucknall?’

Dyche went on to say that he preferred press conferences with more interesting subjects.

“They’re less boring,” he revealed. “Lockdown is really hard for everyone, so we should just have a natter and show a bit of humanity in the world.”

Vladimir Coufal waiting for a bus

The Czech right-back has been a revelation for West Ham this season.

He and compatriot Tomas Soucek have quickly become fan favourites for the Hammers in their wonderful season, that could end up in Europa League qualification.

Coufal is a down to earth guy, which was perfectly illustrated when he was snapped by a fan standing at a bus stop.

Coufal and Soucek were also involved in a sweet moment earlier in the campaign when the right-back was involved in a clash of heads against Spurs.

Soucek ran the length of the pitch just to make sure Coufal was okay.

Vardy celebrating FA Cup win in inimitable style

The Leicester legend continued his remarkable story by adding the FA Cup to his honours as the 34-year-old helped the Foxes beat Chelsea in the showpiece event.

Vardy, a Premier League 100 club member and league winner, is a maverick known for chugging cans of Red Bull and is not afraid to give as good as he gets to fans.

And how did he celebrate? Well, he sank a few cans of Desperados before falling asleep with the FA Cup medal around his neck. The next morning he woke up and had a McDonald’s breakfast.

Never change, Jamie.

Tim Sherwood’s impeccable timing

Former Tottenham boss Sherwood was left with egg on his face when he was commentating on Liverpool vs Tottenham for Amazon Prime in early December.

As Andy Robertson stood ready to take a corner for Liverpool in the final minute and the game locked at 1-1, Sherwood declared with supreme confidence that Tottenham had nothing to worry about.

“Another corner… I’m not too worried about this corner – it might come back to bite me,” he said.

“I think Tottenham have the dominancy in the air.

“I’m not sure anybody can get their head on the first ball.”

You can guess what happened next…

Roberto Firmino rose above every Spurs defender as Sherwood spoke to bury his header and seal all three points for the hosts.

Unsurprisingly, the BT Sport panel couldn’t hide their laughter at his prediction, with one of his colleagues saying ‘Oh Tim!’ as Firmino’s header thundered into the net to leave Sherwood red-faced.

Classic commentators curse.
