Manchester United and West Ham are set to reinforce their goalkeeping positions in the summer transfer window, talkSPORT understands.
The Red Devils are set to re-sign Tom Heaton on a free transfer from Aston Villa, while it is understood the Hammers will bring in Sam Johnstone from West Bromwich Albion.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rotated between David De Gea and Dean Henderson between the sticks this season, but needs a third choice option with plenty of experience.
It is understood Lee Grant and Sergio Romero will be allowed to leave in order to facilitate the deal, with 35-year-old Heaton set to leave Aston Villa upon the expiration of his contract.
The former Burnley shot-stopper left Old Trafford back in 2010, with an emotional return set for the summer.
Meanwhile, David Moyes wants to provide backup for Lukasz Fabianski in the shape of West Brom glovesman Johnstone.
The 28-year-old from Preston has made 154 saves in the Premier League this season, but was unable to save the Baggies from the drop.
According to talkSPORT transfer guru Alex Crook, both ‘keepers will be on the move this summer.
“Tom Heaton to Manchester United on a free transfer, I am told,” Crook told Jim White. “That deal is pretty much done.
“He left in 2010, that will see Sergio Romero and Lee Grant depart. That will see Heaton going in there as third choice goalkeeper.
“On the subject of goalkeepers, West Ham are looking at Sam Johnstone, who has had an excellent season at West Bromwich Albion and made more saves than anybody else.
“He could yet find himself in the England squad for the European Championships. I’ve been told this morning that West Ham are the frontrunners to sign Sam Johnstone.
“They want competition for Lukasz Fabianksi and this is a deal which could well happen this summer.”
