N’Golo Kante has made his name as one of the most loveable footballers during his years in English football and on Wednesday evening, his popularity soared to new heights.
After delivering his second consecutive man-of-the-match performance against Real Madrid to help send Chelsea to the Champions League final, Kante was mobbed by fans as he exited Stamford Bridge in a MINI COOPER.
Most footballers boast Ferarris, Laborghinis or Rolls Royces – and it is Kante’s hard-working and humble nature that has endeared himself to fans the most.
The 30-year-old was simply everywhere against Real and played a huge part in both goals.
For the first, Kante surged forward with power before playing in Kai Havertz, whose shot bounced off the crossbar for Werner to head home.
The dogged midfielder played a similarly brilliant role for Mount’s late strike, teeing up Christian Pulisic who slid in for the dazzling England playmaker to finish.
And on talkSPORT commentary duties, Ally McCoist lavished praise on the Frenchman for his role n the second goal – and his overall display.
“Without doubt absolutely brilliant,” he said of the goal. “I was just about to criticise Pulisic for not pulling the trigger.
“The pass from Kante, who has been magnificent, was brilliant.
“He took a touch when I thought he should have hit it and laid it on a plate for Mount.
“Well deserved. All English final on the cards.”
