Jose Mourinho hasn’t even stepped foot in Roma’s Stadio Olimpico Stadium yet but ‘The Special One’ is already working his magic.
After being dismissed as Tottenham boss last month, the Portuguese took little time to decide the next step in his career as he was announced as the Serie A giants’ new boss as of next season.
And remarkably, Mourinho is already having a big impact in the Italian capital – despite not even meeting his squad yet!
Roma have won more league games since it was confirmed Mourinho would take over next season (2) than they managed in the eight matches prior to the announcement (1).
Mourinho is already preparing for life at Roma and reports have suggested he wants to bring some of his former players to his new club.
Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport report that Tottenham’s Eric Dier and Wolves keeper Rui Patricio are his reported targets.
Former Inter and Roma youth manager, Andrea Stramaccioni, admitted fans were excited about the arrival of Mourinho and said his appointment has brought ‘enthusiasm’ to the capital.
Stramaccioni, who spent five seasons with Roma’s youth sector, applauded his former club’s decision to appoint to “The Special One.”, though, he reiterated that there’s still work to be done.
“Mourinho has brought huge enthusiasm, an incredible spark,” said the Italian.
“Along with Capello, this is the most important manager that has arrived in Roma’s history. I think he’s exactly what the environment needed, especially from a motivational level. Rome thrives on enthusiasm.”
