Sam Allardyce refused to discuss his future after West Brom’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed on Sunday.
The Baggies lost 3-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.
Allardyce replaced Slaven Bilic in the Hawthorns hotseat last December with a reputation for being a survival specialist but – for the first time in his career – has suffered his first relegation from the top-flight.
Asked about his future at West Brom, the 66-year-old said: “I am not going to answer a question on whether I am staying or going.
“It will just be a waste of time because I won’t be saying whether I am going or staying.
“It’s too early to consider or talk about. It’s about the disappointment. Tonight it’s about having a day or two off and getting ready for Liverpool.
“The most important thing for me and the players is to give everything we have got to try and finish the season with pride in your own performance and your own professionalism.
“The big challenge for us is can we lift ourselves like we have done throughout the season.”
Allardyce has one year left on his West Brom contract, but has not managed in the Championship since 2012.
And that last spell in England’s second tier went well as he guided West Ham to the Premier League via the play-offs.
