Swap options Tottenham may consider for Harry Kane including Manchester United stars Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard and Man City striker

The rumour mill went into overdrive last night as reports emerged that Harry Kane had asked to leave Tottenham.

It has been something brewing for some time with the star striker said to be unhappy at the lack of trophies won by the club during his career.

The 27-year-old has lost in three finals and appears to be laying the groundwork for a move this summer.

There was also a first indication that Spurs were prepared to listen to offers for Kane as they were said to be sounding out potential replacements.

The club refused to be drawn on the speculation though, and insisted they were focused on the rest of the season. But they did not deny the rumours in a statement.

There were three Premier League clubs that emerged as the frontrunners while Barcelona are said to have thrown their hat into the proverbial ring.

Chelsea, Man City and Man United are all believed to have made contact with Kane’s representatives.

The price tag mooted is around £150million, an eye-watering sum but how often does one of the best strikers in the world come on the market in the prime of their career.

Those three Premier League clubs certainly have the cash to be able to lure the striker away from north London.

And there are suggestions that those clubs could offer players as part of the deal – to perhaps bring the price down.

But who could they trade to help make their dreams reality?

Man United – Jesse Lingard or Anthony Martial

England ace Lingard has been sensational at West Ham since joining on loan, netting nine goals along with three assists in just 14 games.

The Times claim that United may use Lingard to try and tempt Spurs into selling Kane.

The Red Devils have also been rumoured to be keen on offering Lingard to Dortmund as part of a deal to sign Jadon Sancho.

United are said to value Lingard at around £40million, suggesting that could reduce the fee paid for Kane to around £100m.

The Mail claim Anthony Martial could be used as a makeweight for the deal, with doubts still remaining over the Frenchman at Old Trafford.

The forward has scored just seven goals this season and has a total of 78 goals in six seasons at the club.

He signed for United in 2015 in a deal worth £58m and the club may now be ready to move on.

One plus for Spurs would be the forward’s experience in the top flight and he’s still only 25.

Martial also has made clear that he wants to be the central striker at United, a chance that he may have if he goes to Tottenham.

Man City – Gabriel Jesus

City are also in the market for a new centre-forward this summer with Sergio Aguero leaving on a free transfer.

Jesus was signed as Aguero’s understudy with the hopes that when the Argentine left, he could take over.

Doubts appear to remain about the Brazilian despite scoring 81 goals in 192 games – with a large proportion of those from the bench.

At times this season, City have opted to play without a recognised striker in the absence of Aguero.

The Mail claim staff at Spurs have identified Jesus as a player that could be included in a part-exchange deal.

Chelsea – Tammy Abraham

A move to Stamford Bridge is the most unlikely of the lot for Kane but perhaps if the Blues throw in their academy graduate, Spurs could be tempted.

Thomas Tuchel has continually left Abraham out of his starting XI at Chelsea, despite his 12 goals in all competitions this season.

Last campaign, his first as a starter for the west London side, saw him net 15 goals in the Premier League alone, and while some have doubts over his talents, he’s still a capable striker in the top flight.

But can Tottenham be persuaded to deal with such a fierce rival?
