Tottenham legend says Harry Kane WILL leave this summer and is likely to join Premier League rivals as he chases Alan Shearer’s goal record

Harry Kane WILL leave Tottenham this summer and will look to join a Premier League rival as he chases down Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record.

That’s according to Spurs legend Clive Allen, who disagreed with the club’s stadium announcer Paul Coyte live on talkSPORT 2 on Tuesday morning and insisted the striker will definitely move on.

News emerged on Monday that the England captain has informed his boyhood club that he wants to leave this summer.

Tottenham have even responded to the claims, saying: “We have a season to finish and we want to finish it as strongly as possible. That’s all everyone should be focussing on.”

However, it is reported Spurs are already making enquiries about replacement centre-forwards after Kane’s request, while Manchester United, Man City and Chelsea have all been linked with an interest in the 27-year-old – who has three years left on his current contract.

It’s been something fans have feared for many years and has seemed quite inevitable as the north London club’s wait for a trophy has gone on and on.
Allen joined talkSPORT 2 on Tuesday to react to the news, and admitted he saw it coming.

“I’m not surprised,” said the former striker. “Harry Kane is at the stage in his career, he is nearly 28, where he has done everything possible for Spurs.

“He has been outstanding. Homegrown, wonderful player, but I can understand his desire in being competitive to win trophies. He’s been close, but it hasn’t happened.

“I can understand where he is coming from. I was in a very similar position myself at Spurs at 28.”

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium announcer and pitchside host Coyte, though, believes Kane is staying put and claims there are too many hurdles to jump for the transfer to happen this summer.

“Personally, I don’t think he will go this summer,” said the talkSPORT 2 presenter.

“I dont think it’s actually going to happen. The price is one thing and I’m not completely convinced everything that is being talked about is true. I think he probably will be a Spurs player come August. They’re even talking about it happening before the Euros!

“What do you think, Clive?”

But Allen had some bad news for the avid Tottenham fan…

Darren Bent admits Harry Kane should be playing for a club competing for major trophies but insists he'll find it more difficult to leave Spurs than Keane, Modric, Berbatov and Bale did

“You’re asking me to answer with my head or my heart, and my heart says I want him to stay, but my head, my football experience and my gut feeling is that Harry will move on, I’m afraid.

“I think he’s got to the stage where he knows time is running down and he wants to win the Premier League, he wants to win the FA Cup and he wants to win the Champions League. Is he going to do that with Spurs? He’s had the opportunity but perhaps he feels those opportunities at Tottenham are now moving away.

“I think those will be overriding factors in his decision… sorry to disappoint you, Paul!”

On Kane’s next move, Allen insisted Kane will be looking to stay in the Premier League, despite links to the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

He added: “In the current climate, is Kane going to fetch £150million and is there a football club out there that can pay that sort of money?

“If there is, there can only be one or two suitors – Manchester City, who have already said they won’t pay £100m for Haaland, and Paris Saint-Germain, who already have Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. If Mbappe leaves PSG, will Kane go to Paris?

“I don’t think Harry Kane would be thinking that way [moving abroad]. His goalscoring record and Alan Shearer’s record in the Premier League. His form over the last few years has been phenomenal and he must have an eye on it. I think that will be one of his big targets.

“I have to say, Manchester City seems to be the best fit. Chelsea is unlikely. I can understand Man United’s interest but the perfect fit for Harry would be Manchester City.”
