When is the Championship play-off final? Full details for showpiece EFL clash following confusion over Champions League final

The Championship play-off final is coming up later this month with the final promotion spot up for grabs.

Norwich and Watford secured automatic promotion to the Premier League in the regular season and now Brentford, Swansea, Barnsley and Bournemouth will battle it out in the play-offs.

The Championship play-off final is coming up later this month

Brentford, who finished third, take on Bournemouth in the semi-finals while Swansea and Barnsley face off for a place in the final.

There was confusion over when the Championship play-off final would take place.

Due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was talk of the Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea being moved to Wembley and thus, forcing the EFL play-off finals to be changed.

But the date for the showpiece Championship match has now been confirmed.

The play-off final will take place on Saturday, May 29 and kick-off at Wembley is set for 15pm.

Championship play-off final: What has been said?

There was talk that the Champions League final could be relocated to Wembley for May 29 following complications due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The final between City and Chelsea was originally set to take place in Istanbul but that had to be change after the UK put Turkey on the travel red list.

UEFA and the FA were in talks over moving the match to London which would have seen the Championship play-final final changed.

But is has now been confirmed that the game will be staged in Lisbon instead.
