This is what reaching the Champions League final feels like.
The scenes in the Manchester City’s dressing room were understandably wild as they booked their place in Istanbul with a convincing win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Pep Guardiola’s men won 2-0 on the night thanks to a double from Riyad Mahrez, putting them through 4-1 on aggregate.
It’s a first European final for Pep Guardiola in a decade but more importantly, it’s City’s first ever appearance at a final in Europe’s premier club competition.
Often the achievement doesn’t sink in straight away but these scenes firmly suggest all the City players are well aware of the enormity of it all.
Footage from City goalkeeper Zack Steffen’s Twitter account shows his teammates and some staff members throwing some serious shapes in the dressing room to the song ‘It’s Friday then Saturday Sunday (What!)’.
It was Steffen’s goalkeeping teammate Ederson who helped City get the nerve-settling opener as his brilliant long ball found Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The Ukrainian crossed for Kevin De Bruyne, whose shot was blocked but the ball kindly fell to Mahrez and the Algerian made no mistake as he slotted the ball through Keylor Navas’ legs.
And Mahrez made it 2-0 on 63 minutes, slamming in Foden’s low cross as the visitors chased two goals.
City await either Chelsea or Real Madrid in the final, that tie locked at 1-1 after the first leg in the Spanish capital.
