In a competition with a relatively small history, Cristiano Ronaldo became it’s greatest competitor with ease.
The man he overtook to become the most prolific player at the Euros, Michel Platini, netted all nine of his goals from midfield in one tournament.

But Ronaldo is about longevity as well as mercurial talent, which is why he is able to continue smashed records well into his thirties.
His 14 goals have come across five Eurppean Championships, both of which are feats in one their own.
In competing for the fifth time, he sets a new record, with four the previous best, achieved by a group of 21 players.
Ronaldo also has the most appearances in Euros history, overtaking Gianluigi Buffon on Wednesday night, with 59 including qualifying matches.

With five goals at Euro 2020 already, in just three games, Ronaldo is also racing to add another Golden Boot to his tally.
His 14 goals across the Euros actually pale in significance to the 109 Ronaldo has scored for Portugal to date.
In fact, one more goal at the tournament and the 36-year-old will become the greatest international goalscorer in history, having drawn level with Iran legend Ali Daei on Wednesday.
