Daniel Ek to launch second Arsenal takeover bid worth ‘more than £2billion’ as Kroenkes brace themselves for another attempt from Spotify CEO and boyhood Gunners fan backed by legends

Daniel Ek is reportedly preparing a second bid to buy Arsenal from the Kroenke family.

The Spotify CEO and boyhood Gunners fan saw his first offer of £1.8million rejected by the club’s owners last month.

According to the Daily Mail, Ek plans to increase his offer by £300m, taking it past £2bn, as the Swede remains determined to get a deal done.

It is also claimed that Arsenal are bracing themselves for a second bid from the billionaire.

Ek went public with his first offer and the Gunners’ owners turned it down in similar vein.

The 38-year-old claimed that Stan and Josh Kroenke told him they didn’t need the money.

His offer, which he said included fan ownership, representation at board level and a golden share for supporters, gained traction among the Arsenal faithful.

Its timing came in the immediate aftermath of the European Super League debacle, which saw the Kroenkes’ popularity reach new lows.

Gunners legends Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp have also thrown their weight behind Ek’s takeover bid.

Asked whether he was involved in the consortium to purchase Arsenal, Henry told Sky Sports last month: “It is true. Daniel is an Arsenal fan.

“He did not say it for any publicity, he has been an Arsenal fan for a very long time.

“He approached us, we listened to him. And we knew, first and foremost, that he wanted to involve the fans.”

Henry added: “He wants to re-inject the Arsenal DNA, the identity that I think is long gone.”
