Frank Lampard has joked he taught Mason Mount ‘everything’ after the Chelsea midfielder starred in England’s victory over Croatia at Euro 2020.
The Three Lions got off to a winning start with Raheem Sterling scoring the game’s only goal at Wembley on Sunday.

Mount has become a mainstay in the Chelsea and England teams over the past year and did not disappoint with another fine display.
And Lampard, a pundit on the BBC for the game, was full of praise for Mount, who he coached at Derby and Chelsea.
The former Blues boss said: “I thought Mason’s all-round performance was absolutely class.
“For me, he’s the best attacking midfielder in terms of pressing and jumping from midfield to win the ball back. He was doing it here in the second-half.”
Asked by former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand if Mount’s work-rate is a natural trait, Lampard replied: “I taught him everything!”
Meanwhile, talkSPORT’s Euro 2020 pundit Jose Mourinho has credited Mount’s development to Lampard.
Mount had not played a first-team match for Chelsea until Lampard arrived in 2019.

Mourinho said: “Frank put everything on Mount.
“Even myself, when I saw Mount for the first time, I was saying, ‘I like this kid, but I don’t think he’s ready’.
“Frank went with him and gave him everything to explode.
“I think the kid has an incredible football brain.”
