Manchester United are reportedly in pole position to sign Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho.
The 21-year-old forward was United’s top target last summer, but the Red Devils refused to meet Dortmund’s £108million valuation.
The Times now claim the Red Devils are close to reaching an agreement with the German side after they dropped their asking price to £80m plus add-ons for the former Manchester City starlet.
Sancho has two years remaining on his current deal at Dortmund, which means they are prepared to accept a lower initial fee for his services.
It’s understood the German club are willing to accept £80m plus £20m in add-ons, with all parties considered increasingly hopeful that a resolution will be met soon.
Former Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino believes Sancho would be a big hit at Old Trafford and is just the type of player United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is after.
”I saw him five or six times for Dortmund this season,” the ex-Chelsea striker told Weekend Sports Breakfast.
“At the start of the season, he wasn’t quite right and looked like he’d been injured, but there was a point in the mid-season where he came alive.
“He’s in a side that encourages attacking football. Ole is going for exactly that type of player.
“You give him the ball, he’ll hold onto it, release it at the right time, right decision-maker and he’ll chip in with a lot of goals. It would be a big signing for Manchester United.”
