Roy Keane questions if Harry Kane is distracted by transfer talk as Stuart Pearce says Tottenham striker undroppable for England

Roy Keane believes Harry Kane could be distracted by transfer rumours regarding his future.

The Tottenham striker reportedly wants to leave the club this summer in search of silverware and has been linked with a big-money move to Man City.

Despite scoring 28 goals in all competitions last season, Kane is yet to open his account for England at Euro 2020.

The 27-year-old has failed to make any kind of significant impact against Croatia and Scotland.

Speaking to ITV, Keane wondered whether Kane’s mind is elsewhere.

He said: “Before the competition, there was all the talk of him might be leaving Spurs.

“Maybe he’s been distracted by that because that can be an energy zapper.

“If you’re thinking you’re moving clubs or if you’re in talks with other clubs, that’s not helpful.”

Despite Kane’s poor form, former England left-back Stuart Pearce insists the Three Lions captain is undroppable.

He told talkSPORT: “If Harry Kane doesn’t hit it off at this tournament and he doesn’t score, England’s fortunes are gone in regard to going all the way. Definitely.

“Gareth will be out taking the players to train who didn’t play [against Scotland]. He’ll be sitting with his coaches decoding the game and saying, ‘how can we get more out of Harry?’

“He’s a world class player. There will be a clamour for his signature this summer and someone will pay north of £100million for him because of his goal record.

“So is it to give him a partner up front and what would that look like to the rest of the team?”
