Lyon have reportedly reached an agreement over a deal to bring in a possible replacement for Houssem Aouar.
Aouar could join Arsenal before the transfer window closes next week and the Ligue 1 club are moving quickly to ensure a new signing is in place.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims a deal is done for Lyon to sign Lucas Paqueta from AC Milan.
He wrote on Twitter: “Olympique Lyonnays have reached an agreement with AC Milan to sign Lucas Paqueta! Deal almost done, last details to be completed soon.
“…and Arsenal are still pushing to sign Aouar from OL [talks on also today, no agreement yet].
“Paqueta will sign his contract as new OL player on next two days. Personal terms agreed until June 2025 – AC Milan will sell him on a permanent deal. Here we go!
“…and Arsenal have confirmed to Aouar agent that they’re still negotiating and will try to get him.”
But the Gunners only have until Friday to complete the signing of Aouar, that’s according to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
The midfielder was reportedly the subject of a £32million from the Gunners on Thursday, but the Ligue 1 side want closer to £54m.
And the owner and president of Lyon told Culture Foot: “Friday, the players who have not left will not leave.”
The 71-year-old is confident the Premier League side do not have the financial capabilities to pull off a deal for the France Under-21 international.
Aulas told French outlet Le Progres: “Financially, Arsenal are like everyone else.
“And Houssem could say to himself that the best thing would be to stay with us.
“From the start I said that we would not lose the three players announced every day in the newspapers [Aouar, Dembele and Depay].”
