Diego Maradona jokes the only present he wants for 60th birthday is ANOTHER ‘Hand of God’ goal against England… but with his right hand

It’s Diego Maradona’s 60th birthday this week and England fans will not want to hear what he wants on his special day.

The Argentina icon has joked that the only gift he craves is another ‘Hand of God’ goal against England – and to score it with his right hand this time!

Maradona blatantly handled the ball into the net past England goalkeeper Peter Shilton during the 1986 World Cup quarter-final.

But the incident was not spotted by the referee and despite furious protests from manager Bobby Robson and the England players, the goal was given.

Moments later, he produced what many regard as one of the greatest individual goals of all time, slaloming his way through England’s back-line before scoring the winner to send his side to the semi-final of the tournament.

Following the England victory, Argentina went on to beat West Germany 3-2 in the final in Mexico and this cemented captain Maradona’s legendary status.

And the Napoli icon could not resist bringing up his famous ‘Hand of God’ goal for Argentina against England and joked he dreams of being able to do it again.

When asked what he wants when he reaches the special milestone, Maradona told France Football: “I dream of being able to score another goal against England, this time with the right hand!”

Last year, Maradona remained defiant over his controversial actions that ultimately cost England a spot in the World Cup semi-final.

“I knew it was my hand,” he said. “It wasn’t my plan but the action happened so fast that the linesman didn’t see me putting my hand in. The referee looked at me and he said: ‘Goal.’

“It was a nice feeling like some sort of symbolic revenge against the English.”
