Edinson Cavani to join Manchester United on Monday on two-year contract – and Alex Telles could also sign on deadline day

Manchester United will announce the signing of Edinson Cavani on Monday, talkSPORT understands.

The Uruguay forward, 33, will fly to the UK on Sunday to undergo a medical after agreeing to join United on a free transfer, with an official confirmation expected just 24 hours later.

Cavani, who has scored 341 goals in his club career, has been without a team since leaving Paris Saint-German earlier this year.

United have been looking to boost their attacking options all summer and, having been frustrated in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho, turned to the experienced Uruguayan.

He is set to sign a two-year contract, subject to a successful medical on Sunday.

Cavani left the French capital as PSG’s record scorer after netting 200 goals following his move from Napoli in 2013. He has also scored 50 times in 116 appearances for Uruguay.

Cavani is unlikely to be the only new arrival at Old Trafford ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

talkSPORT understands that United are also hopeful of agreeing a deal to sign Alex Telles.

United have been haggling with Porto over a fee for the full-back – with the Portuguese club valuing the 27-year-old at close to £20m – but an agreement is edging closer.
