Tottenham Hotspur are back in business this season.
Their collapse against West Ham was quickly pushed aside as they beat LASK 3-0 in north London with a composed performance in the Europa League.
Manuel Lanzini’s thunderbolt on Sunday had the ability to give Spurs a serious case of the wobbles but now they will have plenty confidence having dispatched their Austria opponents with a weakened team.
Although, we’d suggest being able to start Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Matt Doherty – among others – is hardly under-strength.
Up next, on Monday, is a Burnley side who are desperate for points having failed to win a single league game so far this season.
A 0-0 draw with fellow strugglers West Brom last weekend was their best match so far, something Sean Dyche will want to correct sooner rather than later.
Sadly for Dyche, Tottenham didn’t even need to turn to Harry Kane on Thursday night, so the England captain should be fresh for the Turf Moor clash.
Son did come off the bench but he only continued his incredible start to the season with his side’s third and last goal in N17.
Elsewhere in manager Jose Mourinho’s squad, Giovani Lo Celso made his comeback from injury, Gareth Bale made his first start and completed 60 minutes, while Carlos Vinicius impressed on his debut with two superb assists.
But, despite the good news, it’s vital it’s all followed up with victory against Burnley.
Tottenham team news
Midfielder Hojbjerg had to have stitches after a clash of heads against LASK but should be fine to face the Clarets.
There are defensive issues with Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga both missing the last two matches, while Davinson Sanchez would be playing for a third game in just over a week.
Son and Kane are almost certain starters while it is likely to be a return to the bench for Bale with Moura and Steven Bergwijn battling for the start while the Welshman gets back to full fitness.
Lo Celso’s appearances on Thursday suggest he will make the bench, especially with Tanguy Ndombele being given a rest.
