Last month talkSPORT revealed that West Ham were in talks with Wilshere over terminating his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has endured a tough time in east London since joining from Arsenal in 2018, playing only 19 times as his well-documented injury problems continue to persist.

Wilshere earned around £100,000-a-week with the Hammers and club chiefs wanted to offload him before the 11pm transfer deadline to free up space in their wage bill for a new centre-back signing.

And to resolve their defensive issues it appears David Moyes hopes to raid one of West Ham’s Premier League rivals for a new signing.

talkSPORT understands the Hammers are in talks to sign Fikayo Tomori, the England centre-back, on loan from Chelsea.

While Tomori was expected to stay at Stamford Bridge this season, it now appears likely he will depart on a temporary basis as the Blues have failed to ship out Antonio Rudiger before the close of the summer window.

Tomori, 22, has made three appearances for Chelsea this season, and Frank Lampard wants him to a join a club where he will be guaranteed game time to continue his development.
