QPR’s Luke Amos is likely to miss the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) against Bournemouth.
The former Tottenham midfielder, 23, hobbled off during the second half of Saturday’s goalless draw at the Vitality Stadium.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton played down the significance of the injury after the game, but talkSPORT has learned that Amos is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The midfielder will need surgery and is expected to be out of action for at least six months.
The latest news is a cruel blow to Amos, who suffered an identical injury in his left knee in 2018 which kept him out of action for over a year.
That curtailed Amos’ pathway to the Tottenham first team just when he appeared to be forging himself into then Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
A defensive midfielder by trade, Amos was an ever-present for QPR last season making 35 appearances across all competitions during his season-long spell.
He then signed a three-year contract at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium in August, as revealed by talkSPORT, ending his 13-year association with Spurs.
