Arsenal are set to offload Nicolas Pepe if a buyer can be found, just one week after the forward headbutted an opponent.
The Gunners drew with Leeds last weekend, but had to play most the second half with ten men as Pepe was dismissed for clashing heads with Ezgjan Alioski shortly after half-time.
He will miss Arsenal’s next three Premier League matches, though Pepe did start in the Europa League against Molde on Thursday – even opening the scoring with a fine strike.
But it appears there is no road to redemption for Pepe, with the Daily Star claiming Arsenal are preparing to get rid of him should a suitable buyer be found.
Pepe was branded ‘unacceptable’ by Mikel Arteta for his antics against Leeds, and the Gunners boss wants to axe a player many consider will not cut it in the Premier League.
A suitable deal must be reached before Arsenal will sanction any exit, however.
The Ivory Coast forward cost the north Londoners £72million, and they want to recoup a large portion of this fee – either in a player-plus-cash deal or with Pepe leaving on loan with an obligation to buy.
Pepe was hugely in-demand before Arsenal secured his signature in the summer of 2019, but it is unknown whether he is being tracked ahead of the transfer window reopening in just over a month.
