Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted his ninth and tenth goals of the season as Everton ended a three-game slump on Sunday.
The Toffees won 3-2 at Craven Cottage against Fulham but were clinging on by the end.
There was another embarrassing penalty miss for Scott Parker’s side, though, as their troubles from the spot continued.
Everton’s return to winning ways coincided with Richarlison’s return. The Brazilian was sent off in the Merseyside derby last month and missed their next three games.
The 23-year-old returned to the starting line-up at Craven Cottage and helped set up a goal just 42 seconds into the game.
He jumped on a mistake by the home side and fired a dangerous ball into the six-yard box.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was on hand to bundle the ball into the back of the net to score the fastest goal of the Premier League season.
It was the England international’s ninth goal of the 2020/21 season.
Their lead did not last long, though, with Bobby Decordova-Reid getting his side back on level terms in the 15th minute with a neat finish past Jordan Pickford.
Calvert-Lewin grabbed his second of the afternoon in the 29th minute to put Everton back ahead.
A neat move saw Lucas Digne released down the left, after fine play by fellow wing-back Alex Iwobi, and the Frenchman picked out the Toffees number nine who slotted home.
It was an excellent goal, upheld after a VAR review into a possible offside against Calvert-Lewin, but further frustration for Fulham after they had enjoyed the better of proceedings following Decordova-Reid’s leveller.
Digne again proved impossible to deal with on the left as he had the time and space to pick out Abdoulaye Doucoure who headed in the 35th minute.
Fulham’s penalty woes continued with Ivan Cavaleiro failing to convert from 12 yards but it did not prevent Parker’s side pulling a goal back.
Substitutes Mitrovic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek combined before the latter was brought down by Everton’s Ben Godfrey in the 67th minute.
After Mitrovic and Ademola Lookman had already seen spot-kicks saved this season, Cavaleiro took the responsibility but slipped and scuffed his shot over the crossbar.
The hosts managed to respond positively, however, with Loftus-Cheek finishing via a deflection at the near post with 20 minutes left to give Fulham a fighting chance of salvaging a result at Craven Cottage.
They piled on the pressure in the final minutes but could not find the equaliser to leave Parker’s side still searching for their second win of the season.
