Jose Mourinho told talkSPORT that Harry Kane ‘did everything’ in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday.
Spurs’ talismanic striker put in a magnificent display from start to finish while Heung-min Son and Giovani Lo Celso grabbed the goals.
Mourinho reacted to talkSPORT’s Sam Matterface: “Today, we had a plan and the players know what they did to follow that plan, how difficult it was.
“The plan was not easy at all, especially because it was built on base of theory and tactical meetings and not on pitchwork because we didn’t have conditions for that.
“I’m happy with that, I’m happy with everybody playing for the team.
“You see for example Harry Kane’s performance, he did everything, he did everything for the team.
“And I got from Serge Aurier to Steven Bergwijn, every player had the same mentality and I used to say that the most difficult thing in the team to be stable is the attitude.
“We are getting there, the players are getting there.”
The result left Tottenham top of the league on Saturday night, though Leicester will retake the position if they beat Liverpool on Sunday.
“It feels good, but if Leicester wins tomorrow and they’re top of the league again it’s not a problem for me at all,” Mourinho continued.
“I’m not focused on that, I’m focused on the process.
“On the process you compare your team – how your team was three months ago, how your team was eight months ago, how your team was one year ago and that’s the thing for me.
“That’s the process and I’m very happy with many things, many things. We have so many also to improve, but I’m happy.”
Guardiola’s post-match interview was of course far less upbeat.
Despite being on the front foot for large parts of the game, City were unable to find the net.
“They scored the two chances they had, we didn’t score how many chances we had,” Guardiola told talkSPORT’s Sam Matterface.
“We gave the first goal, we have to defend better, we have to score more goals.
“The numbers don’t lie to us.
“We created enough chances to score, but we didn’t score.”
