AC Milan might be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic right now but they’re showing no signs of slowing down in their Serie A title charge.
In fact, they were quick out of the gates against Sassuolo and had scored the opening goal of the game in 6.75 seconds.
The Italian giants were taking the kick-off and, after an exchange of passes at the centre circle, they were away.
Theo Hernandez drove forward with the ball, drifting to the left and Portguese youngster Rafael Leao ran into the inside channel.
Laid on by the French ace, 21-year-old Leao burst into the penalty and thrashed the ball beyond Andrea Consigli.
The strike is now the fastest goal in Serie A history, beating Piacenza’s Paolo Poggi, who scored in eight seconds back in December 2001.
The goal helped Milan stay top of Serie A, as they went onto claim a 2-1 victory against their opponents.
Alexis Saelmaekers grabbed a second after 26 minutes, although Hakan Calhanolglu had seen a goal disallowed via VAR just nine minute into the game.
Domenico Berardi grabbed a goal for the hosts a minute from time but it proved to only be a consolation.
The result was the perfect tonic following reports Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the league’s top scorer, could be absent until 2021 after another injury.
