Edinson Cavani had no shortage of options in the summer, claiming to have rejected ‘many Italian clubs’ in favour of a move to Manchester United.
The 33-year-old striker found himself at a loose end in the summer as his Paris Saint-Germain contract ended.

He opted to join the Red Devils just before the end of the transfer window, but also had the chance to go back to Italy.
Juventus and Inter Milan were among the clubs interested in him, but Cavani’s loyalty to Napoli meant he couldn’t consider a move to another Italian club.
Cavani spent three seasons at the San Paolo, helping Napoli win the Coppa Italia in 2011/12 as well as being Serie A top scorer in 2012/13.
He joined PSG in the summer of 2013 but is still revered by Neapolitans, and, speaking to Mondo Napoli, Cavani was asked if there is anything he wanted to say to the Naples fanbase.
Cavani said: “Only thank you. I will always be grateful to them.
“It’s for this reason that I said no to many Italian clubs including Juventus, who called me often, and Inter too. I couldn’t do such a thing to the Neapolitans.
“If I think of Naples, I think of joy, because I know that I have done so much for them and they continue to pay tribute to me.”
Cavani has made a reasonable start to life at Old Trafford, scoring three goals in six Premier League appearances.
However, his new club were knocked out of the Champions League earlier this week as they lost to RB Leipzig.
