Paul Pogba has been named in the starting XI for Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Man City.
The Frenchman’s career at Old Trafford had appeared to be coming to an end in the wake of comments from his agent, Mino Raiola, who claimed his time with the club was ‘over’ earlier this week.
The comments came amid a season which has been spent largely on the bench for Pogba, although he has returned to form recently.
He bagged the equaliser in the 3-1 win at West Ham last week, and came off the bench to score in the 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig in midweek.
Despite Raiola’s public outburst, Solskjaer insists Pogba is focussed on the club ahead of the derby – which is live on talkSPORT.
The Red Devils boss said: “This is a team game and Paul is part of this team.
“He’s very focused on contributing. He’s got the hunger and appetite to play and wants to play.
“He wants to train and he trains.
“There’s been other players refusing to train and refusing to play — they’re not here anymore of course — but Paul’s not once done that.
“He’s just focused on performing when he gets a chance.
“That’s the good thing about Paul. He’s got the quality and the desire to do well.”
