Title contenders? Manchester United hit six past Leeds to climb to third in Premier League table and five points behind leaders Liverpool

Manchester United stretched their unbeaten Premier League run to seven matches as they secured a 6-2 over Leeds on Sunday.

Scott McTominay became the first player in Premier League history to score twice in the first three minutes of a match to stun Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Bruno Fernandes added a third goal as Victor Lindelof tapped in a fourth to all but end the contest after 37 minutes.

However, Leeds kept on creating chances and pulled one back through Liam Cooper before half-time.

And the visitors started the second-half well when Raphinha’s volley was turned on to a post by David de Gea.

There were more goals to come, though, as Dan James justified Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to start him with a goal in the 66th minute.

Fernandes completed his brace with a 70th-minute penalty to score United’s final goal.

And Stuart Dallas netted a consolation from distance three minutes later in what was a goal-crazy game.

Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier stopped United from scoring more as he denied Marital, Fred and Cavani in the latter stages of the contest.

The Red Devils had 26 shots on Meslier’s goal with 14 of those on target.

Meanwhile, a fearless Leeds side managed 17 efforts with just three shots on target.

The result saw United climb to third in the Premier League table and Solskjaer’s men will move to within two points of leaders Liverpool if they win their game in hand.

Meanwhile, for Biesla, it was the first time one of his teams have conceded six goals in a competitive match since his Newell’s Old Boys side lost 6-0 in the Copa Libertadores in February 1992.
