Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised Daniel James’ attitude after the Manchester United winger continued his good form with another goal in the 3-1 win over Newcastle on Sunday.
Second-half goals from James and Bruno Fernandes secured the victory over their relegation-threatened opponents after Allan Saint-Maximin had cancelled out Marcus Rashford’s fine opener.
James, 23, has enjoyed a recent resurgence in recent weeks and confidently struck in his fifth goal of the season to send the Red Devils on their way to victory at Old Trafford.
“Dan never disappeared,” Solskjaer told BT Sport after the match.
“He has been working hard behind the scenes and always been available. He’s always a player you can use in different areas with his energy and pace.
“We work with him, we try to help everyone but of course Dan came from the Championship, he hit a few goals in his first games and that’s bound to take some energy from you.
“He has knuckled down and really worked to get back to full fitness but maybe also confidence, to believe in himself.”
It was James’ second goal in four days after he struck against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
And the Wales international admitted he is happy to be back amongst the minutes in recent matches.
“It was a very important win. After Thursday we just wanted to capitalise on that and I think we did well.
“I haven’t played so much recently but I’m just working as hard as I can when I do play.
“I’ve just been working on the training ground as hard as I can. I kind of lost my way a bit. I have been working with the coaches to get me back to myself and I’d like to think I’ve got there now.”
