Marcos Rojo has left Manchester United to join Boca Juniors on a permanent basis.
The Argentina defender made just 17 appearances for the Red Devils after putting pen-to-paper on an improved three-year deal – with the option of extending that by a further year – in March 2018.
He hadn’t made a single appearance for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men so far this season, and was also omitted from the club’s squad for the Champions League group stages.
Rojo, whose last appearance for United came as a substitute in a 3-1 win over Brighton in November 2019, spent the second half of last season on loan at Estudiantes in his native Argentina.
A £16million acquisition from Sporting Lisbon back in the summer of 2014, Rojo helped United to FA Cup and Carabao Cup triumphs.
Rojo follows fellow defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah out of the Old Trafford exit, who left to join Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent deal last month.
Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard has joined West Ham on loan until the end of the season.
Young quartet Facundo Pellistri, Teden Mengi, Tahith Chong and James Garner also secured new temporary loan moves in the transfer window.
