Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo tipped to win Ballon d’Or ‘in five years’ by man who organised his Atalanta trial

Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo has been tipped to win the Ballon d’Or in five years time by the man who set him on the road to stardom.

Former AC Milan and Italy goalkeeper Giovanni Galli, who set up the teenager’s trial at Atalanta, believes the winger just needs to add strength to his skill set to become a world beater.

Diallo, who joined United from Atalanta in January for a £36million fee, was sported by Galli when he was sporting director at Serie C side Lucchese.

He was alerted to the Ivorian’s electric displays for amateur club Boca Barco and subsequently arranged a trial with Atalanta before he joined the top-flight side.

Galli told Goal: “Amad is unique but he must make himself stronger.

“At the same time, he must make sure he does not lose his speed, which is a quality that distinguishes him from others.

“In short, I think he has all the qualities to be a candidate for the Ballon d’Or in the next five years.”

Diallo’s glittering potential has been spoken of by many high-profile players in the game and his former Atalanta teammate Papu Gomez, who is now at Sevilla, admitted the forward ‘played like Lionel Messi’.

The 33-year-old said: “He’s a future star, trust me.

“During our training sessions he plays like Messi.

“You can’t stop him, he’s unbelievable, our centre-backs have serious problems when he is on the pitch. He’s fantastic.”
