Moussa Dembele collapses during Atletico Madrid training sparking panic among players and medical staff – but ‘no serious concern’ over ex-Celtic star

Moussa Dembele sparked panic among Atletico Madrid players and staff after collapsing during training on Tuesday.

The Frenchman, who is thankfully now OK, appeared to lose consciousness while stretching his hamstrings and fell motionless on the pitch in distressing footage caught on camera.

Players rushed over to assist the 24-year-old, as did medical staff, who spent several moments trying to bring him back round, while other teammates ran to call for extra help.

Dembele regained consciousness after being turned on his side and was able to leave the pitch unassisted, while the former Celtic man was also filmed driving away from training on his own after the incident.

According to reports, the striker has since undergone medical checks, which put his sudden fainting down to low blood pressure.

There is reportedly no cause for any serious concern about the Lyon loanee’s health.

The incident will no doubt spark fearful memories of when Fabrice Muamba collapsed on the pitch during a clash between Bolton and Tottenham just over nine years ago.

The game was rolling like any other when suddenly Muamba dropped to the turf, and it didn’t take long for his teammates and opponents to realise it was something more serious than a standard injury.

His heart stopped beating for 78 minutes after a sudden cardiac arrest, and remarkably Muamba made a full recovery.

He was given two shocks on the pitch, one in the tunnel and 12 in the ambulance on the way to hospital, where he stayed for a month.
