Zinedine Zidane refuses to rule out Real Madrid return for Cristiano Ronaldo as he is deemed ‘too expensive’ for Juventus

Zinedine Zidane has refused to rule out a Real Madrid return for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 36-year-old scored 450 goals in 438 appearances as he helped Los Blancos win four Champions League trophies in a nine-year spell.

Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus in a £99.2million deal in 2018, but is yet to have an impact for the Italian giants on the European stage.

Juventus were knocked out of the Champions League by Porto on away goals in the last-16 stage of the competition earlier this week.

It has led to rumours Ronaldo could leave Turin this summer with his deal due to run out next year.

Former Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli insists it was a mistake for his old club to buy the Portugal captain.

He told Radio Punto Nuovo: “Cristiano Ronaldo was a wrong purchase? Absolutely yes.

“I said it from day one, showing appreciation for a great champion that he is, but he is too expensive and too conditioning.

“It’s Juventus’ business to sell Ronaldo or not, but he’s worth a million per goal.”

Ronaldo has been linked with move to Paris Saint-Germain, who could lose Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid.

And Los Blancos boss Zidane remained coy when asked about Ronaldo’s future, but he did not rule out a possible move for his former player.

He said: “You know what Cristiano Ronaldo means for Real Madrid.

“You know the affection we have for him at Real Madrid. What he did here was magnificent.

“Right now he’s a Juventus player and he’s doing really well there. I can’t say anything about all the many things they say.

“I can only say that he is a Juventus player and we have to respect that.”
