Jurgen Klopp reaffirmed the most important part of a club is ‘the supporters and the team’ in the wake of the controversial European Super League.
Twelve clubs – including the Premier League’s so-called ‘big six’ – are part of plans which would fundamentally alter the shape of European football.

It is understood the Premier League has called its other 14 clubs to an emergency shareholders’ meeting on Tuesday morning, to which the ‘big six’ – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham – have not been invited.
In 2019, Klopp admitted he wanted no part in a ‘Super League’ containing only the ‘elite’ teams of Europe as it would destroy the competitive spirit of the game.
Speaking before the Reds took on Leeds United at Elland Road on Monday night, the German insisted he still feels strongly about the formation of the league – but had no idea talks had even taken place.
“My opinion didn’t change,” he told Sky Sports. “Obviously, I heard about it for the first time yesterday.
“I was at home, trying to prepare for a very difficult game against Leeds United and then you…We got some information, not a lot.
“To be honest, more or less, most of the things you can read in newspapers or wherever. It’s a tough one, people are not happy with that, I can understand.
“But, I cannot say a lot more about it, to be honest because we were not involved in any processes; not the players, not me, we didn’t know about it.
“I think that’s the fact, we will have to wait to see how it develops.”

The Leeds United players decided to wear a warm-up T-Shirt before the game which read, ‘Champions League, Earn It’ on the front and ‘Football is for the Fans’ on the back.
Klopp confirmed the hosts had left similar shirts inside the away dressing room, but refused to wear it.
“In tough times you have to show you stick together,” he added.
“It doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything but again the boys did nothing wrong. I want to make sure everyone knows that.
“We will not wear it. If somebody thinks we need to be reminded we need to earn the right to play in the Champions League; that is a joke.
“Remember; the most important parts of the club are the supporters and the team.
“And we should make sure nothing gets in the way of that”.
