Tottenham target Julian Nagelsmann agrees terms with Bayern Munich – but RB Leipzig demand record compensation fee for highly-rated manager

Bayern Munich have reportedly moved a step closer to appointing Tottenham target Julian Nagelsmann as their new manager.

Bild claim that RB Leipzig has agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga giants and looks poised to replace the outgoing Hansi Flick this summer.

Bayern will now need to stump up an acceptable settlement package to lure Nagelsmann from their Bundesliga rivals.

And according to Leipzig that figure is £26million, with Nagelsmann’s current deal at the Red Bull Arena still set to run on for another two years.

Such is Nagelsmann’s ever-growing stature in the game, that would a world-record compensation for a coach – something Bayern are seemingly prepared to match.

Nagelsmann has a mightily impressive 58 per cent win percentage with Leipzig during his two years at the club to date, having won 53 out of his 90 games at the helm.

The latest developments put an end to talk of Nagelsmann linking up with Spurs following Jose Mourinho’s abrupt dismisal last week.

Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is the bookmakers’ favourite to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sarri, who won the first major trophy of his career at Stamford Bridge, is currently 5/2 to take over from interim head coach Ryan Mason.

The Italian’s last role in football saw him sacked by Serie A giants Juventus in August 2020 – just two weeks after leading them to a ninth consecutive league title.
