Harry Kane has said he will have a ‘good and honest conversation’ with Tottenham over his future as he revealed his ambitions to be on a par with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The star striker has been the subject of intense transfer speculation this week following reports he has asked to leave Spurs this summer.
Chelsea, Man City and Man United are all said to have made contact with his representatives.
In a fascinating and candid chat with Gary Neville for SkyBet’s The Overlap, Kane spoke out amid the rampant speculation over his future and insisted he ‘never said I’d stay at Spurs’.
The England captain also said he doesn’t want to end his career with any regrets and insisted his future will be ‘up to me’, not chairman Daniel Levy.
“I don’t want to come to the end of my career and have regrets,” Kane said. “I want to be the best I can be.

“I’ve never said I’d stay at Spurs for the rest of my career. I’d never said I’d leave Spurs.
“It’s at a stage where people might say ‘oh he’s desperate for trophies’. I still feel like I’ve got another career to play. I’ve still got seven or eight years of what I’ve had so far.
“I’m not rushing anything. I’m not desperate to do anything. I want to be the best version of me.
“For sure, I’ve got so much more to give. I feel like I can be even better than I’ve been and produce better numbers than I’m producing at the moment.”
Kane is said to be unhappy with the lack of trophies won by boyhood club Tottenham, having been on the losing side of three finals.

Spurs are also facing another season outside the Champions League, and Kane admitted he wants to be playing in the biggest games.
On his future, the 27-year-old said: “It’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club. I want to be playing in the biggest games and biggest moments.
“This season I’m watching teams in the Champions League and those are the games I want to be involved in.
“For sure, they’re games I want to be involved in and I have to reflect and see where I’m at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman and I hope we can have that conversation.
“I’m sure he’ll set out a plan for how he sees it. Ultimately, it’s down to me and how I feel and what’s best for my career at this moment in time.”

On his relationship with Daniel Levy, Kane added: “He’s been great with me. He’s always rewarded me with contracts. I signed a four or five year deal when I was 21, I did well and added more to that.
“He’s always been good to me and not held me onto a contract and said ‘I paid you that so you’re going to stay on that’.
“We’ve always had a good relationship. I’m not sure how it’s going to go, to be honest, and as players you don’t know what the chairman is thinking.
“He might want to sell me and thinking ‘if I can get £100million for you then why not’. I’m not going to be worth that in three or four years.
“I hope we’ve got a good relationship and I’ve been at the club 16 years of my life. I hope we can have an honest conversation and see where we’re at in that aspect.”
Kane also revealed he has lofty ambitions to be the best player in the world, up there with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I’m not afraid to say I want to be the best. I want to try and get on the level Ronaldo and Messi got to,” he said. “That’s my goal – to win trophies season in season out, scoring 50, 60 or 70 goals season out.
“That’s the standard I want to set myself. If I set anything lower I feel if I got to the end of my career I will look back and think I could have got more goals.
“That’s my drive.”
