Darren Anderton insists Harry Kane would have publicly denied the rumours claiming he wants to leave Tottenham if they were not true.
The England captain has reportedly told Spurs chairman Daniel Levy about his desire to quit the north London club at the end of the season.

It is understood Manchester United, Man City and Chelsea are in a race to sign Kane, who has 221 goals for Tottenham.
Spurs were said to have been ‘reeling’ from the reports while interim head coach Ryan Mason – close friends with Kane off the pitch – insisted he had no knowledge of any transfer request from the striker.
But club legend Anderton believes the reports are true and says Kane could have played his last home game for the club, which ended in a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Wednesday.
He told talkSPORT 2: “If it wasn’t true then believe me the chairman, everyone within the club would be on him to make a comment squashing those rumours.
“You don’t need that before a game. The game [against Villa] wasn’t great. It was a poor performance from everyone.
“It didn’t look like a happy camp. It was one of those games where you’ve got all the fans back in there and it should have been a great day.
“Everyone came away from it feeling very disappointed and very worried about the future of their star man.”
Anderton believes Kane will leave Tottenham this summer and his decision should be respected.

He added: “The timing of the rumours, right before the last home game of the season, is a pretty big sign that it could well be true.
“It could have been his last game at home, which would be very sad. When a club stop moving forward that’s when your top, top players look elsewhere.
“We’re at that point at the moment where you’ve got to give him credit. He’s never caused any trouble, he’s always given 110 per cent, he’s different class on every single level.
“If he does make that decision you have to respect him for it and wish him well.”
