Jurgen Klopp showed Nat Phillips videos of Alisson header so Liverpool defender would ‘stop closing his eyes’ before first goal at Burnley

Liverpool star Nat Phillips has been taking heading lessons from goalkeeper Alisson, according to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

Phillips bagged his first Liverpool goal with a thumping header during a 3-0 victory at Burnley, which put the Reds in control of fourth spot over Leicester ahead of the final day.

But the most incredible reason why Klopp’s men are level on 66 points with Leicester and above them on goal difference is because Alisson, their goalkeeper, scored a last-minute winner against West Brom on Sunday.

And it wasn’t just any goal, the Brazilian netted a header any striker would’ve been proud of.

In fact, it was so good, Klopp used videos of the goal to fix Phillips’ heading in the opposition box.

Bemused as to why the 24-year-old would never score despite his aerial prowess, Klopp told us Phillips was guilty of closing his eyes, before Alisson opened them.

“We had a long talk last week and we showed him Alisson’s goal again,” Klopp told talkSPORT. “Because he could’ve had a header as well but he closed his eyes too early.

“He’s one of the best headers of the ball in the league defensively, it’s incredible what he’s doing there. But offensively, he used to close his eyes too early.

“We will have to check it, but he told me open eyes [this time].”
