Phil Neville has urged Manchester United NOT to sign Harry Kane this summer, saying it would ‘block the pathway’ for Mason Greenwood to become United and England’s No.9.
The Class of ‘92 star hopes Edinson Cavani remains at Old Trafford for another season, rather than the club signing a new world-class striker.

England captain Kane’s future at Tottenham has been brought into question once again in the wake of the north London club’s Carabao Cup final defeat.
The striker has even added fuel to the raging fire of rumours by declaring he wants to win ‘the biggest prizes’ in football, as he was named Premier League Player of the Year at the London Football Awards last week.
Interim Spurs boss – and Kane’s former teammate – Ryan Mason said on Friday he is not convinced the club need a top-four finish this season to keep hold of Kane, but rumours of a big-money move to Manchester United have not gone away, and are unlikely to anytime soon.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be on the hunt for a new frontman to lead his forward line this summer, with free transfer Cavani currently set to leave when his one-year deal expires at the end of the season.
The manager has insisted he wants Cavani to stay, though, and Neville says it would be in United’s best interests to keep hold of the Uruguayan instead of bringing Kane to Old Trafford.

Asked about United’s striker search, former Red Devils defender Neville told twin sister Tracey on Drivetime: “Oh, I’d sign Cavani.
“I think when you talk about brilliant strikers… Cavani was world-class this week. For a player who has come in on a free transfer, he is everything you want in a centre-forward.
“I know a lot of people are talking about Harry Kane, and I think Harry Kane is world-class, but I think in Cavani they’ve got someone who can definitely produce the goods for another 12 months and the club would not have to pay the types of money that you have to pay for somebody like Harry Kane.
“Obviously long-term you’d have a think about the best players in the world at this moment in time, you think about Lewandowski, Kane, Mbappe, but it’s going to be difficult to prise those players away from their clubs.
“So I think Cavani fits the bill perfectly.

“I think if you bring in somebody like Harry Kane you’re also blocking the path for somebody like Mason Greenwood, who I think is one of the best finishers in the game.
“Ultimately, United have to create a pathway for Mason Greenwood to actually become the number nine. He’s going to be the number nine without a shadow of a doubt – he’s the best finisher at that club.
“When he gets stronger, and he is getting stronger, when his movement gets better and he gets more consistency in his play, he will be the number nine for England and Manchester United.
“That’s how excited I am. This boy takes penalties with his left and right foot – not many players in the world do that.
“He is a top, top, top talent.”
With Greenwood, Cavani and Marcus Rashford leading the line, Neville also told talkSPORT United are ‘edging closer’ to becoming Premier League title challengers with Ole at the wheel.
“I thought 12 months ago we were heading in the right direction, but now, I think now we are a really good young team,” the Inter Miami coach added.
“We’re playing with speed, playing with attacking flair. I think the younger players, Mason Greenwood has been sensational, so has Marcus Rashford.
“Ole is doing an incredible job and I think he’s edging closer to becoming title challengers.”
