Noel Gallagher was, of course, basking in the glory of Manchester City winning a fifth Premier League title on Tuesday night.
However, the former Oasis man fired a warning to Pep Guardiola’s men, suggesting they’re at risk of being ‘found out’ next season.
City have been dominant this term and will win a famous treble if they can beat Chelsea in the Champions League final, LIVE on talkSPORT, on May 29.
There will be big changes in the summer though with club legend Sergio Aguero to leave at the end of the season.
On a personal level, it’s been a poor final season at Man City for the Argentine striker, who has just two Premier League goals this season. Although, it should be noted that injuries have kept him out for large chunks of 2020/21.
It’s meant that Pep Guardiola has turned to Gabriel Jesus to lead the City line but has opted to leave the Brazilian out in recent weeks to play a false nine system – to great success.
But this is not a long-term solution, believes Gallagher, who wants to see his beloved club sign Erling Haaland as a replacement for Aguero this summer.
“This season he’s perfected the false nine thing and the team is great,” Gallagher told talkSPORT Breakfast. “We don’t look as good when you drop a striker into that.
“But we will get found out eventually next season playing that system.
“I don’t think City would be letting Aguero go unless they didn’t have something lined up. I wouldn’t be surprised if Haaland rocks up and Pep changes it again.
“One thing this season has proved, it’s not all about playing beautiful football with Guardiola and Tiki Taka and all that, it’s about winning.
“He threw all the pieces up in the air and we became more defensive and he’ll change it again.”
Another tactical change Gallagher would love to see is concerning Ederson, who he labelled as the ‘best goalkeeper in the world’.
Ederson has been in stunning form this season with his distribution earning him plenty of plaudits.
And with the way the Brazilian strikes the ball so well, Gallagher thinks it’s only fair he gets a chance to take free-kicks for the team!
“One day he’s got to take a free-kick from 50 yards and smash it into the top corner!” Gallagher added.
“When they roll the ball to him across the six yard box you’re kind of thinking ‘oh my God’ as he takes one more touch than everyone else but he then casually smashes it down the pitch and lands it on a postage stamp.
“For me he’s the best in the world. I know Liverpool have got Alisson, who’s a great keeper, but Ede is just unbelievable.”
