Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly asked to furlough their players after being relegated from the Championship.
The Owls finished bottom and dropped into League One for the first time in 11 years earlier this month.

There was controversy off the pitch, too, with Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri sacking managers Garry Monk and Tony Pulis during the 2020/21 campaign.
Now, The Telegraph claim Owls stars have been ‘stunned’ by the club’s request to have some of their salaries paid by the government’s coronavirus job scheme.
The report adds the players, who have not been paid on time this month, have rejected the proposal.
Sheffield Wednesday started the 2020/21 season with a six-point deduction, which had been cut from 12, for breaching spending rules.
And they were unable to show consistent form under three different managers with their relegation eventually confirmed under Darren Moore on the final day of the campaign.

The Owls have since released 10 players, including Keiren Westwood, Matt Penney, Tom Lees, Elias Kachunga, Joey Pelupessy, Adam Reach, Jordan Rhodes, Joost van Aken, Moses Odubajo and Kadeem Harris, to cut their wage bill.
In a statement on the club’s website, Chansiri took ‘full responsibility’ for Sheffield Wednesday’s relegation.
He said: “As your owner and chairman, I take full responsibility for everything that happens at our club.
“I am the leader and in good times or bad, the responsibility for Sheffield Wednesday lies with me. I am sorry to you all that we have been relegated.”
