“He’s been a fantastic servant to the football club. Fans love him and I think everyone can see that he’s given everything and tried to get us over the line with trophies and winning finals.

“We haven’t got it done and the ambition of the club hasn’t been good enough.

“I think it’s fair to say that we’ve got a world class striker in Harry Kane and you can’t keep someone like that – we’re talking about a top five striker in the world – when we’re finishing sixth or seventh the league.

“The fans understand that.”

Kane has made his name as one of the world’s best strikers during his time at Spurs, scoring a sensational 220 goals in 334 appearances for the club.

And last week, O’Hara said that the 27-year-old would ‘guarantee’ a club like Man City the title over the next few seasons.

“I think if you want to guarantee yourself the Premier League title in the next few years, you sign Harry Kane,” he told the talkSPORT Breakfast.

“He’s the best striker in the league by a country mile. He knows the teams, he knows the grounds.

“He [Haaland] won’t flop but it’ll take him time to adjust. You see players come from Ajax and the Bundesliga and it takes time.”
