Wolves have confirmed the appointment of Bruno Lage as their new manager.
The ex-Benfica boss was given the go-ahead to take over from Nuno Espirito Santo at Molineux following a successful work permit hearing last week.
Lage, who has previously had spells as assistant manager at Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday, is thought to have turned down numerous opportunities since departing Lisbon last summer.
The 45-year-old led the Portuguese giants to the league title in 2019 before leaving a year later.
Interestingly, the Portuguese is a client of super agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents ex-boss Nuno and a number of other Wolves players.
The Midlands club are understood have interviewed a number of other options, but their first-choice candidate was always believed to be Lage.
His expansive style of play and the opportunity to retain the club’s Portuguese-heavy culture is believed to be among the many reasons why he was selected as their no.1 candidate.
