Cristiano Ronaldo is now the joint-highest international goalscorer in history.
The Portugal icon has been prolific for his nation and had netted 104 international goals prior to Euro 2020.
Ronaldo has already bagged FIVE goals at the showpiece tournament taking his tally to 109 strikes, the latest two coming from the spot against France in Budapest on Wednesday.
Iran’s Ali Daei scored 109 goals in 149 caps during his career before retiring in 2006 and the record is something 36-year-old Ronaldo has been gunning for.
Speaking in 2019 when he scored goal no.99 for Portugal, he said: “All records must be broken and I will beat that record.”
Ronaldo, who helped Portugal to win Euro 2016 and the inaugural Nations League in 2019, has scored his 109 goals in 178 appearances.
Now that former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward has equalled Daei’s record, he could break it at Euro 2020, with Portugal expected to reach the knockout stage too.
