Ruben Dias bags another prize as Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Bruno Fernandes make PFA Team of the Year dominated by Manchester City stars – but Chelsea ignored

Six of Manchester City’s title winners were named in the PFA Team of the Year, before Ruben Dias bagged the Premier League’s Player of the Season award.

The defender, who already won the Football Writers’ prize, adds another individual honour to his collection after a fine season, and looks set to make it a clean sweep when the PFA announce their Player of the Year.

They released the Team of the Season last night – with Ederson, Joao Cancelo, John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan all recognised by their peers and voted into the divisional XI alongside Dias.

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes also makes it alongside Luke Shaw after his resurgent season ended in an England call-up.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who scored 23 and 22 league goals respectively, are in.

Despite winning the Champions League – as well as reaching the FA Cup final and finishing fourth in the Premier League – no Chelsea players are included.

If he gets his way Kane could be joining those six stars at City after a brilliant personal season in an average Tottenham side.

The England captain, who has told Spurs he wants to leave this summer, won the Golden Boot for the third time, with 23 goals and also topped the assists chart with 14.

His link-up play with Son Heung-min was a driving force behind Spurs’ ascent to the top of the table in Christmas and the South Korean is also voted in.

Son’s 17 goals and 10 assists were his best-ever haul and the 14 times he combined with Kane is a Premier League record, beating Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton’s 13 in 1994/95.

Manchester United ended up trophy-less again but Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes were both voted into the team after impressive seasons.

Shaw was the best-performing left-back while Fernandes scored 18 goals and added 12 assists.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah also made the XI after running Kane close to the Golden Boot, scoring 22 goals – his joint second-highest tally.
