Jadon Sancho doesn’t see any reason why Jude Bellingham can’t reach the top of football, saying ‘the sky’s the limit’ for his England and Borussia Dortmund teammate.
Bellingham, who turns 18 when England take on Germany in the last-16 of Euro 2020 on Tuesday, has handled himself very well at the tournament.
He came on for the last ten minutes of England’s 1-0 win over Croatia and also made a cameo appearance in the victory over the Czech Republic earlier this week.
The midfielder made the squad thanks to a stunning season with Borussia Dortmund, which has been a happy home for young English players looking to make their name.
Sancho broke new ground by upping sticks to Germany in 2017. His huge success with Dortmund has more than justified the decision with the 21-year-old now one of the most exciting young players in Europe.
And Sancho believes his Dortmund teammate has what it takes to reach those heights too.
“The kid is mature,” Sancho told the Official England Podcast.
“I think everyone can notice that, but he deserves it at the end of the day.
“He’s been working extremely hard at Dortmund, especially his first training session you could just tell already that he was ready to ball out in Germany so I’m very happy for him and his family.
“The sky’s the limit for Jude.
“Being at a major tournament for England, especially, is a very big thing and, as you can see, he’s coming on and doing his role for the team.
“He deserves it. As I said before, the sky’s the limit for him and if he keeps on doing well then he can reach the top of his ability. I hope that happens.”
