Monaco have rejected a bid from Manchester United for Benoit Badiashile, reports claim.
Badiashile, the teenage centre-back, is rated as one of the best young defenders around and he’s previously been linked with the Red Devils.
But he remains with Monaco as of today, and he’s closing in on his half-century of appearances for the Principality club – including a showing against Reims last week in Monaco’s opening Ligue 1 fixture, in which Badiashile scored to help secure a 2-2 draw.
United are now pushing ahead with their move for the 19-year-old defender having submitted a £22million (€25m) bid for Badiashile.
But Monaco rejected the offer out of hand as head coach Niko Kovac wants to keep hold of the teenager, telling club chiefs to turn down all bids for him.
And now, according to Mohamed Bouhafsi, Monaco have told clubs Badiashile is NOT for sale – unless ‘Manchester United make a Martial-like, unrefusable bid for him’.
France forward Anthony Martial joined the Red Devils in 2015 from Monaco for an initial £36m fee, although this could rise to £57.6m which made the then 19-year-old the most expensive teenager in football history.
Badiashile, who has been capped at the Under-16 to Under-19 youth levels by France, would be expected to partner Harry Maguire in the centre of Manchester United’s defence if he joined Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this summer.
