The English Football League is set to approve the takeover in the next few days.

Current owner Mel Morris has been at the helm of the club for the last five years but will reportedly stay on as a consultant.

The Athletic report that Morris is holding out for around £60million for the club.

They also say that Derventio Holdings (UK) Limited was officially registered with Britain’s registrar of companies.

The company has three directors: Midhat Kamil Kidwai – managing director of the Bin Zayed group – and two Swiss-based British businessmen, Andrew Obolensky and Christopher Samuelson.

Sheikh Khaled is also named as a ‘person of significant control’ at Derventio Holdings (UK) Limited.

Derventio is the name of a Roman settlement that is today located on the outskirts of Derby.

Sheikh Khaled is said to be worth around £150billion and has recently failed in bids to take over Liverpool and Newcastle.

He saw a £2billion bid for Liverpool turned down in 2018 while last year he failed in a £350million takeover of Newcastle.
