Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign teenage wonderkid Filip Stevanović from Partizan Belgrade, the Serbian club have announced.
Arch-rivals Manchester United were also linked with an interest and were even reported to have agreed to sign the 18-year-old, who is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Europe.
But City have won the race for the highly-rated winger, with a £7million [€8m] transfer set to be completed when the January transfer window opens.
“FC Partizan is pleased to announce the transfer of Filip Stevanović to Man City in the winter transition period of 2021,” the Serbian club posted on social media on Saturday.
“The transfer of Filip Stevanović to one of the largest European clubs is a significant confirmation of the good and hard work of all club structures.”
Partizan boss Andrea Stanojevic admitted last month that the club would find it difficult to hold on to the 18-year-old starlet.
“I would like Stevanovic to stay until the age of 23, but it will be difficult for him to welcome the next birthday at Partizan as things currently stand,” he said.
But has been suggested the youngster could remain at his boyhood club for the time being.
It is widely claimed the Serbia Under-21 international will have to wait to get his chance in the City first-team, as he will either go out on loan in January or stay with Partizan for the rest of the 2020-21 season.
Stevanovic made his debut for the Serbian giants at the age of just 16, and has made 53 senior appearances for the club since.
The forward has an impressive tally of 12 goals and five assists, which includes his tally of three goals and two assists in ten appearances this season.
He has European experience, too, which is hard to come by in a player of his age.
