Alvaro Morata insists Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘loved by everyone’ after being accused of having ‘no respect’ for Juventus teammates

Alvaro Morata has leapt to the defence of Cristiano Ronaldo after damning criticism from former Juventus defender Pasquale Bruno.

The 58-year-old, who played for Juve between 1987 and 1990, accused Ronaldo of being disrespectful towards his Juventus teammates for not speaking Italian.

“He is ignorant,” Bruno said.

“He has been in Italy for two years and has not yet learned to speak our language.

“He uses Spanish to express himself. He has no respect for his teammates or for the Italians.”

Ronaldo, who speaks at least three languages, has scored 57 goals in 68 Serie A appearances since joining Juventus in a £99.2million deal from Real Madrid in 2018.

The 35-year-old Portugal captain recovered from coronavirus and marked his return with two goals off the bench in a 4-1 win at Spezia last weekend.

He played the full 90 minutes in another 4-1 victory over Ferencvaros in the Champions League on Wednesday, but did not score.

Morata netted twice as Paulo Dybala added a third before an own goal from Lasha Dvali.

The Spain striker, who rejoined Juventus on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer, insists Ronaldo is ‘loved by everyone’ in Turin.

He said: “I don’t have to say who Cristiano is and what he does.

“He is always available, he makes himself loved by everyone, he is in the group.

“He is our most important player and we hope he will always take us to the next level.”
