Marcus Thuram has been handed his first senior call-up to the France national team.
The Borussia Monchengladbach forward, 23, has scored three goals in ten games this season, including a brace in last week’s 2-2 draw with Real Madrid.
The call-up comes 12 years after Thuram’s father, Lilian, retired from international football.
The former Juventus and Barcelona defender is France’s most-capped player with 142 appearances as he helped his country win the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.
He played alongside current France boss Didier Deschamps, who could give his son his senior debut against Finland, Portugal or Sweden later this month.
Thuram will be joined by Premier League stars Hugo Lloris, Kurt Zouma, Lucas Digne, N’Golo Kante, Moussa Sissoko, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Olivier Giroud in the France squad.
Kylian Mbappe also received a call-up, despite missing Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 defeat to RB Leipzig on Wednesday with a hamstring injury.
After completing an £8million move from Guingamp last summer, Thuram scored 14 goals and registered nine assists in an impressive debut season.
Subsequently, he has been linked with big-money moves to Man City, Barcelona and Juventus.
